Spiritual Journey

Overcoming Life’s Plateau

Happy New Year friends!! 🎉🎊🎉

Cheers to the FIRST Farkarwa blog of the year!  Although I journal semi-often, I have missed blogging/sharing! About 6 weeks ago, I took (and am still on) a social media sabbatical.  While I still maintain my Own Your Peach nonprofit pages, I needed a break from everything that social media brings.  Don’t you get like that sometimes?  While I am not against social media altogether, I do believe it is important for us to scoot back from the table sometimes, to re-prioritize (if that is something you have lost sight of).  In my case, while I hadn’t forgotten my priorities, I found myself refreshing my apps wayyyyyy too often…TYPICALLY out of boredom or idleness.  Y’all know the routine… 😉

Now, anyone who knows me, knows that I DO NOT have an excessive amount of idle time to give away freely.  Let alone to something as futile as social media.  Anywhoo, my reason for saying goodbye to social media, was because I felt like I had reached a plateau.  Specifically, with my new lifestyle and fitness goals, and with being consistent in my personal/purpose goals.  Lord willing these things will be officially revealed in 2018!! (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8).  In the mean-time, there are many things that God has purposed in my heart, that I saw myself becoming passive about.

Now don’t get me wrong.  The hustle and bustle of life is NOT what makes us.  In fact, our relationship with Christ is what makes us (Ephesians 2:10).  And I believe we should always be focused, and diligent to seek and walk in our God-given purpose.  While the reasons that we plateau will vary based on the person, if we allow life’s plateau to make us completely lose sight of where we were going in the first place…several things can happen: 1. God can’t fully be glorified through our lives because we aren’t using our gifts to their full potential (everyone should read Matthew 25 ‘The Parable of the Talents) 2. Other people aren’t being blessed by our gift 3. We are missing out on the benefits (especially spiritual) that come along with it!  Don’t you feel all warm and fuzzy inside when you know that you are making a difference?  Not for selfish reasons, but knowing that you are purpose-driven, and others can benefit from it!

All of this being said, I wanted the first blog of  2018 to be a true reflection of one of the reasons I started blogging in the first place: a reminder that we are on a SPIRITUAL JOURNEY!  And we should feed ourselves spiritual food that will nourish our souls.  This can help us keep things in perspective, and if not prevent life’s plateaus, at least get us back on track!

Sometimes, this means eliminating things that are not helping us grow.  Sometimes it means re-prioritizing.  What was important last year, last month, or last week, might not hold the same value in our lives.  All of these things considered…let’s remember that life is a journey, not a destination!

Side note: I know most of us shop online these days.  Especially with amazon.  While you’re sitting and “twiddling your thumbs” as “Big Mama” aka my late grandmother would say. 🙂 ..head over to smile.amazon.com, and enter “Own Your Peach” to support us! Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to us! You can literally just set it and forget it!  So next time you log-in there, it should automatically populate with OYP’s info!

Until next time 🙂
